Help Wanted...
Have you always wanted to manage a SkiBike Organization, but were afraid to ask? Here's your chance... 100K/yr + benefits, ...don't we wish... Actually, all positions are volunteer, but the benefits, manifested as supreme job satisfaction, are quite real. Requirements would include enthusiasm and a desire to promote the growth of the sport in North America. Administrative, public relations and computer skills would be very useful. A priority would be to recruit a directorial board of individuals to manage the various departments necessary to the functioning of a sports organization.
I founded the ASA back in 2001, my statement at that time was: "I’m just getting the ball rolling, tossing the hat into the ring. This is your association, it has to be a group effort. The ASA can be a resource, a central cooperative". Unfortunately, to a large degree, that "group effort" never materialized. The sport has grown quite substantially since 01, but it has proven to be a formidable task to recruit individuals willing to be consistently involved on the administrative side, which is, of course, the essential framework that has to be constructed before progress can be achieved in other areas. I have to take some responsibility for that failure, I'm essentially a "behind the scenes" organizer type of person, and not particularly adept at PR or inspiring people to action. My primary focus has become building up the ASA Website and The SkiBike Forum, which have proven to be very powerful resources in the advancement of this great sport.
So, we have reached a crossroads, it is time to pass the baton. The river of time continues to flow, and many new people are becoming involved with the sport. I am hopeful that some of these people will recognize the value of having an organized group to manage the evolution of the sport in North America and will be willing to donate some time and effort towards that objective.
I have laid the foundation, it's time for some new blood to step in and take
The Association to the next level. I challenge you to stand-
